In October 2012, the Palestine Section of Defense for Children International released a short film documenting the experiences of Palestinian children in the Israeli military justice system. The video serves as a companion to the organization’s lengthy report on the same subject, released in April 2012.
The film includes the testimonies of four Palestinian children (aged between 13 and 16) describing arrest and interrogation at the hands of Israeli soldiers. It also includes an interview with the parents of the youngest child, who describe the emotional effect of the arrest on both their son and themselves. These first-person accounts are interspersed with analysis by local human rights lawyers and the director of East Jerusalem YMCA Rehabilitation Program, who discuss the legal and psycho-social results of the arrest of Palestinian children.
