DCI-Palestine Report on Recruitment of Palestinian Children for Military-Related Activities, February 2012

In February 2012, the Palestine Section of Defense for Children International released a report documenting instances of Palestinian children conducting work for either the Israeli army or local militant groups. DCI-Palestine documented 17 instances between 2004 and 2010 in which Israeli soldiers forced Palestinian children either to assist searches or to remain in a conflict zone. The group also collected testimonies from 16 children who reported that Israeli authorities attempted to hire them as informants while they were detained in Israeli prisons. Anecdotal evidence, however, suggests that the number of children recruited as Israeli informants is far higher.

The full text of the report is available for download and printing here. It includes statistics and testimonies on the above issues, as well as an important section on children who work with Palestinian militant groups.
